AUSGLEICH HAUS

“Ausgleich” is a German word meaning to balance or equalize. The design brief specified a house accommodating 12 strangers of similar interests. I defined my strangers to be high-level athletes who come to the East Coast to study meditation and yoga in an attempt to decompress. The building highlights how a large mass can be suspended using cables to support the asymmetrical weight distribution. The house is in constant tension with the forces of nature, attempting to maintain equilibrium.
