BRIGADEGÅRDEN

Part of my intensive study of architecture in Copenhagen involved designing the renovation plans for Kay Fisker’s Brigadegården. The most pressing issues were to remedy the existing building's limited natural lighting, minimal green space, and outdated building technologies.

By introducing the punch-outs to the facade of the building, the apartments benefit greatly from increased daylight and exposure to fresh air. The redesigned courtyard allows for more green space as well as a more intriguing playground design. Finally, by outfitting the building with modern insulation and solar panels, the structure becomes a more sustainable and self-sufficient place.
